Hayden Panettiere Seeking Treatment for Postpartum Depression

October 13th, 2015

Hayden Panettiere has checked into a treatment facility for battling postpartum depression following the birth of her first child, Kaya, her rep confirms to Us Weekly.

“Hayden Panettiere is voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment center as she is currently battling postpartum depression. She asks that the media respect her privacy during this time,” a statement read to Us on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The Nashville star has been vocal about battling postpartum depression since becoming a first-time mom with fiance Wladimir Klitschko in December 2014.

“I can very much relate. It’s something a lot of women experience. When [you’re told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child.’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings,” Panettiere, 26, said during an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Michael last month. “Some women do. But you don’t realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on. It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal.”

Teenage arsonist ordered to write 200 letters of apology

October 13th, 2015

A teenage arsonist was ordered to write 200 letters of apology to his victims in return for a reduced sentence.

Clyde Turner, 18, torched a storage unit in Holiday, Florida, and pleaded guilty to second-degree arson and burglary.

Circuit Judge Pat Siracusa sentenced Turner to five months in county jail and eight years’ probation – and told him to write a letter of apology to everyone affected.

“I write this letter as an apology for my actions that have affected you and your family”, he wrote, reported the Tampa Bay Times.

“I could write a trillion apology letters and it wouldn’t ever make up for your belongings.”

Turner broke into the Extra Space Storage facility with the plan of setting fire to the unit that belonged to his mother’s abusive ex-boyfriend.

After disabling a security camera and soaking the unit with gasoline, he set it on fire and fled – but the flames quickly took hold and spread.

In total, another 40 units and their contents were completely destroyed.

Upper East Side aunt sues 12-year-old nephew for $127G

October 13th, 2015

If only they could just hug it out.

A human resources manager from Manhattan is suing her nephew over a leaping greeting from the then-8-year-old that left her with a broken wrist, according to reports.

Jennifer Connell, 54, believes little Sean Tarala, now 12, should have known better than to jump into her arms as a means of welcoming her to his birthday party in 2011, ctpost.com reported Monday.

Connell, of E. 73rd St. on the Upper East Side, is seeking $127,000 in damages for suffering a broken wrist when the two fell to the ground in the rough reception, according to the site.

The aunt, who has no children of her own, said her life has not been the same since the 50-pound bundle of boyish energy bounded into her open arms.

“I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walkup so it has been very difficult,” Connell testified Friday at Connecticut Superior Court in Bridgeport. “And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan.”

And if walking up stairs with an injured wrist wasn’t difficult enough, the after-effects on Connell’s social life have been disastrous.

‘Playboy’ to stop publishing nude photos

October 13th, 2015

As part of a redesign to the magazine that will debut next March, Playboywill stop publishing photos of nude women. Its website stopped featuring nudity in August, and traffic has since increased from 4 million to 16 million users a month, according to Playboyexecutives.

The magazine has included photos of naked women since its debut in 1953, featuring Marilyn Monroe as the first centerfold. “If you’re a man between the ages of 18 and 80, Playboy is meant for you,” wrote founder Hugh Hefner in his first editor’s letter.

The New York Times reports on the reason for the redesign:

“Its executives admit that Playboy has been overtaken by the changes it pioneered. ‘That battle has been fought and won,’ said Scott Flanders, the company’s chief executive. ‘You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture.’ “

Cory Jones, an editor at the magazine, says Playboy will still feature racy photos, including a “Playmate of the Month,” but that these images will be of a PG-13 variety.
